Language interference as a problem of didactics of foreign languages and translation

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2011

Abstract

Language interference mistakes are one of the most difficult problems arising during the preparation of foreign languages and translation/interpreting students at all levels of proficiency. Czech students of the Russian language are especially vulnerable to this problem due to the proximity of languages.

The article seeks to summarize didactic methods of eliminating interference mistakes made by native Czechs who study Russian, to evaluate the appropriateness of these methods within the translations studies curriculum, and to propose a complex didactic concept meant to resolve this problem.
