The lecture tries to answer the question, to which extent regional language varieties could play a role as a subject within the teaching process of German as a foreign technical language. Besides defining relevant regions south-east of the German language area remarks on the target group of 'German as a technical language with regional focus' are made.
Further, the extent of introducing active (vocabulary) and passive language skills (vocabulary, listening comprehension) is described and narrowed down. Finally an outlook on the conception of teaching materials is given.
