Construction and deconstruction of the category of femininity in modern Bengali literature

Abstract

The dominating archetypes of femininity in Indian classical literature are the obeying weaver seducing dancer rebelling witch and godly mother-ruler. In modern Bengali literature, these archetypes are demystified and their interpretations may be even subversive.
