Abstract
The contribution briefly reviews the history of the Diachronic Part of the Czech National Corpus, with the focus on the history of the decisions made about its key principles, such as the corpus' representativeness, transcription of historical texts or its extended markup set. A short account is also given of both the major present work and the future plans.
