Abstract

This paper aims to present research that deals with the role of augmented reality for education and its role in the system of educational tools. The phenomenon of augmented reality is not entirely new, important studies in this area has been done in the early 90th of the last century.

However, the significance of augmented reality has markedly increased in recent years, particularly through the development of portable devices, so-called 'smart devices'. Also, earlier consideration of the use of augmented reality in education, in more or less theoretical level, thanks to that development and the affordability of these devices has become feasible in school practice.

The paper tries to uncover problems of augmented reality in education and show the possible direction of research in this area, which would lead to a deeper didactic understanding of this technology.
