Abstract
This article presents an overview of the history and future of European activities concerning remote sensing. It describes the most important satellites and rockets produced in Europe.
It also summarizes the history of the European Space Agency (ESA), of which the Czechia is also a member. In connection with the development of satellite systems, the article describes two significant European projects: GMES and Galileo.
