Abstract

The purpose of this study is to present the most comprehensive possible and, primarily, the data-based view on the formation and the evolution of elites during the post-socialist transformation of the Czech Society. The study is ivided into two related parts.

The first part covers theoretical approaches to elites form the cassic elite theory, over the democratic elite theory up to the new elitism. The second part is empirical and analyses the primary data and thus it sums findings from many researches from 1993-2007.

The analyse cover particular elite segments (political, economic, cultural, amss-medial), perception of elites by people, the sef-evaluation of elites, cohesivnes and consensuality of elites.
