Abstract

Visceral pain represents an interdisciplinary problem with relatively high prevalence of 6-30% in population.Frequently, its differential dignosis is very difficult. Acute pain requires high attention because it may signalling life threatening conditions.

Chronic pain is characterized by discrepancy between severity of symptoms and scaricity of physical signs. Epidural analgesia and vegetative plexus blockades play an important role in management of chronic pain.

The mode of action of these techniques is not fully understood, however can bring long lasting pain relief with relatively low risk of complications.
