Minimally Invasive Osteosynthesis of Acetabular Fractures

Publication at Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové |
2009

Abstract

Fluoroscopic-assisted percutaneous screw fixation of acetabular fractures is not a common technique. This stabilisation method was well described more than ten years ago.

The operation technique, limitations and preliminary results are presented. Eleven pacients were treated with this technique at our department from 2007.Two complications (18%) occured, transient palsy of lateral cutaneous femoral nerve in one case and deep operation site infection 3 months after operation in another.

No screw malplacement was found. This safe technique of acetabular fractures is the best way for stabilisation of some acetabular fracture patterns.

New technologies like a virtual navigation will be benecifial for upgrade of this technique.
