Abstract
I started my research work with stem cells in diagnostics and, later on, in the therapy in the year 1990 as a research worker at the Department of Military Radiology of Military Medical Academy, Hradec Králové. At that time I was already preparing a conception connecting experimental results with the clinical use.
I started to build a laboratory with the aim the results in my clinical practice. Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) served as the first model because of their easy collection from the bone marrow and peripheral blood and easy ex vivo expansion.
