Compensatory strategies of foreign medical students during communication with patient

Publication at Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové |
2009

Abstract

The main aim of teaching Czech (as a foreign language) at medical faculties is to prepare students to communicate with patients. Strong stress on professional language and strict demands for communicative success require a certain level of knowledge and skills to compensate for communicative deficiencies.

The author introduces compensatory strategies based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, which are specified for teaching at medical faculties.
