Abstract

The authors report the case of a patient experiencing recurrent attacks of bilateral pneumothorax in end-stage chronic obstructive lung disease. In addition to the use of Goretex patch stapling, use of TachoSil was shown to be most beneficial providing airtight sealing of the tears on the pulmonary parenchyma tissue within 10 minutes. In end-stage disease, against the background of respiratory distress in the presence of recurrent pneumothorax, the surgical outcomes are not favorable for the patient and surgeon alike.
