The 'Matter'of Medieval Texts: The Implications of Manuscript Transmission for Approaching Medieval Literature

Abstrakt
A contribution stressing the necessity to study medieval manuscripts: in order to understand medieval literature, one needs to see it also in its material context, i.e. the context of the codices it was copied in. Special emphasis was placed on manuscript miscellanies and on reconstructing the ways in which the present canon of medieval literature was established.
