Abstract
As a parting point, we have chosen a relatively little known text that Lévinas has written on Marcel Proust (L autre chez Proust, reprinted in noms Propres). On the basis of selected excerpts from remembrance of Things Past, we attempt to show that Prousts concept of the other, remarkably analyzed by Levinas,may resonate with Levinas s own approach.
Even though we do not intend to discuss any possible form of direct influence, our aim is to suggest, among other things, that the sources of Levinas thought are not limited exclusively to Judaism and phenomenology.
