Abstract

Prospective clinical study of the mutual interactions and particular role of fundamental atherogenic mechanisms in renal replacement therapy (hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis). Project will investigate changes, correlation and possible influencing of the i) cholesterol biosynthetic pathway and its intermediary products, ii) lipoperoxidation processes, iii) antioxidant consumption, iv) endothelial dysfunction.

The results might improve our knowledge and thus treatment of advanced atherosclerosis in renal replacement therapy, which is the leading cause of its morbidity and mortality of uremic patients in Czech Republic.
