Decreased skin microcirculation correlates with serum albumin and relates to later development of skin defects, cardiovascular events and occurrence of death in hemodialyzed patients

Abstract

Absolute values of skin blood flow correlate with serum albumin, which means that presence of malnutrition may influence microcirculation. Existence of areas with critical skin microcirculation on feet predicts later development of ischemic skin defects, cardiovascular events (i.e. myocardial infarction, stroke or transitory ischemic attack) and mortality in HD patients.
