Language, Feeling and the Brain: the Evocative Vector

Publication

Abstract

Since the beginning of the Cognitive Revolution, lingusitics has dealt with language - as it has most cognitive functions - without consideration of the role of emotions. This book brings to bear the work done on emotions during the last decade (Pribram, Damasio, Oatley, etc.) and develops the argument that emotions play a crucial role in language, from the level of brain functions, up to and including the level of culture and literature.
