The text introduces starting points of gender analysis of religion, looked upon from the perspective of how the image of God and gendered images of human beings are constructed. This theoretical model is further applied on selected aspects of Hinduism.

The text focuses namely on the concept of female magic power and its selected classical and modern literary figurations.
