Abstract

LDL-apheresis is a method for extracorporeal LDL-cholesterol elimination, employed in patients with severe hyperlipidemia refractory to pharmacotherapy and dietary measures. Our department provides LDL-apheresis at present as the only centre for the whole of the Czech Republic and over 10 years we have gathered experience from approximately 1200 procedures.

Over the past years, we have evaluated several markers to optimize therapy, which were considered according to literature or our own experience.
