Early detection of anthracycline cardiotoxicity in a rabbit model: left ventricle filling pattern versus troponin T determination

Abstract

In this work, it was revealed that valid and routine determination of left-ventricular filling pattern in rabbit is hindered by relatively high physiological heart rate and therefore, it was shown to be unsuitable for early determination of anthracycline cardiotoxicity on this model. On the other hand, troponin T determination was demonstrated as very sensitive and earliest marker of cardiotoxicity on our model preceding all functional changes.
