Abstract

P300 peak represents the main component of event-related potentials (ERPs) that reflects attentional and memory processes. Its parameters can be affected by numerous bilogical factors.

In our study, we verified the influence of age and sex in a group of 119 healthy subjects at the age of 6-83 years. The visually evoked ERPs were generated by an 'oddbal' paradigm.

We found a positive correlation between the age and P300 latency and negative correlation between the age and size of amplitudes. There was no influence of sex on the P300 component parameters.

The found significant age dependence of P300 component implies the necessity to use the age-related norms in case of clinical ERPs application.
