Abstract
The study deals with the oral history project "Recording Voices and Documenting Memories of Czech and Slovak Americans", conducted over a period of a number of years, whose objective was to collect up to 150 stories of Czech and Slovak emigrants who came to the USA during the Cold War era. The study presents the fundamental starting points of the project and focuses especially on the sub-issue of the different language environment with which the narrators had to deal as immigrants.
