Individual recognition is crucial ability for socially living organisms. New research of E.
Choleris team shows that individual recognition is under the control of oxytocin in medial amygdala. Blocking oxytocin receptors in that area of the brain caused in mice inability to recognize their counterparts.
However, their other behaviour was not affected.
