Abstract
The Reception of Robert Paxton's Book La France de Vichy by French press and French Academic Community. The article analyzes the reactions caused by the publication of Robert Paxton's book La France de Vichy in France of the early 1970s.
It aims at reconstructing the public controversy over the book, one of the first historical works to dare to tell the French about the true nature of the Vichy regime. Ever since, Paxton's La France de Vichy has become a real reference in the field of history of the Vichy regime, and its publication is considered to be a historic event in itself.
