Abstract
The article is an archetypal gender analysis of literary characters in three selected fairy tales by Karel Šiktanc. By employing concepts introduced by feminist literary theoreticians, the article makes an attempt to revise Carl Gustav Jung's theory of archetypes.
Based on a gender-sensitive perspective, the article shows how fairy tales may contribute to reproducing and intensifying gender stereotypes. At the same time, the text offers possibilities for change.
