The lecture describes the life story and the diverse work of Hans Kelsen, one of the greatest lawyers of the 19th century. Even though Kelsen is expecially considered to be the father of the Austrian constitutional system, and an Austrian lawyer, it cannot be entirely forgotten that he was born in Prague where he shortly was a professor.
To present the Kelsen's legal and philosophical understanding of law leading to the creation of the pure theory of law is the main topic of this lecture. The Kelsen's political treaties are also discussed.
In conclusion the author of the lecture L. Adamowich makes a critical assessment of the Kelsen's work.
