Abstract
The chapter provides a synthesizing description of the situation in the Czech education with an emphasis on economic aspects and links to other economic and social trends. Compared with the most successful foreign educational systems, the Czech education system yet have not found a mechanism of adaptation to the dynamic socio-economic changes.
A number of measures that can lead to improve education are proposed.
