Enzyme stereospecificity as a powerful tool in searching for new enzymes

Abstrakt

Chirality is an important aspect of drug metabolism. Biotransformation of chiral and prochiral drugs is more complex because diverse formation of metabolite enantiomers.

Drugs are often substrates for multiple enzymes and each can metabolize the drug with various stereospecifities. Differences in enzyme stereospecificity are possible to utilize in searching for new enzymes.
