Affecting production of secondary metabolites in Silybum marianum cell culture by paraquat elicitor treatment

Abstract

Paper describes the effect of time and concentration of methylviologen (MV) /paraquat/ as abiotic elicitor on the flavonolognan production by Silybum marianum callus and suspension cultures. The maximal content of flavonolignans was obtained at MV application c = 2.19 x 10-4 mol/L in callus culture.
