Evaluation of natural antioxidants of Leuzea carthamoides as result of a screening study of 88 plant extracts from European Asteraceae and Cichoriaceae

Abstract

88 extracts of various parts of European Asteraceae and Cichoriaceae plants were assayed for free radical scavenging activity by means of DPPH test using the SIA; the leaves of Leuzea carthamiodes were chosen for phytochemical study; seven natural compounds were isolated from L. carthamoides; antioxidant activity of isolated compounds was determined by DPPH test and FRAP test
