The influence of delivery mode on presence of Streptococcus mutans in oral cavity of newborns

Abstract

Dental caries is currently defined as a multifactorial, infectious and transmissible disease. caries can occur very shortly after the tooth eruption in infants (early childhood caries). Major role in the etiology plays Streptococcus mutans (SM).

In cooperation with department of neonatology we examine the presence of this bacteria in the saliva of neonates.
