Determinants of prevalent vertebral fractures and progressive bone loss in long-term hemodialysis patients

Abstrakt

Bone mineral density and prevalent vertebral fractures was investigated prospectively by means of qCT in 72 patients receiving regular hemodialysis. Fractures were documented in 21% patients and were best predicted by cortical mineral density (OR 0.96 (CI 0.94, 0.99), p < 0.005).
