Klement Gottwald in Czechoslovak cinematography during the period of normalisation

Abstract

The authors describe the portrayal of the first communist president Klement Gottwald in Czechoslovak cinematography and television series during the period of normalization. Film and series tried to present Klement Gottwald as one of the most outstanding personalities of Czechoslovak history and as a political and human model for contemporary citizens in communist Czechoslovakia.
