Alveolar Concentration and Bronchial Flux of Nitric Oxide: Two Linear Modeling Methods Evaluated in Children and Adolescents With Allergic Rhinitis and Atopic Asthma

Abstract

The study evaluated linear modelling methods for measurement of alveolar concentration and bronchial flux of nitric oxide (NO) in children with atopic asthma and allergic rhinitis. The results show that exhaled NO has to be measured at several expiratory flows exceeding 100 ml/sec for the accurate estimation of both parameters.

A stepwise procedure for detecting nonlinearity and evaluating the quality of measurements was suggested.
