German Bundestag and out-of-area military operations

Publication at Faculty of Social Sciences |
2012

Abstract

This book examines the role of German parliament (Bundestag) in the decision making process concerning out-of-area military operations. It also analyzes the existence of relaqtion between the development of German security policy after the unification and the development of the role of the Bundestag.

The research hypothesis assumes the weakening of the position of the parliament due to deeper international cooperation in security and defence policy and existence of multinational rapid reaction forces. Based upon the detailed study of state and latest development of decision making process, the research hypothesis is refuted.

The book even showes that the German parliament even strenghtened its position and influence.
