Abstract
The article solves the problem of quantity of u-psilon in the proper name "Kyrene". As Pindar performed his Cyrenaean poems in place, he was obliged to to pronounce the name correctly, that is why his form of the word with short u-psilon is the right one.
The text mentions a mysterious mythological connection of Thessalian nymph Cyrene with Libyan locality.
