Canada and aboriginal people: Harper's way to economic self-sufficiency

Abstract

The article analyses Canadian government policy toward aboriginal people. After a brief historical overview of aboriginal policy in Canada, it underlines Harper's Conservative departure from the accentuation of the inherited political rights of self-government toward the economic priorities such as responsibility and self-sufficiency.
