The book brings, in a span from the middle of the 19th century to the 1920s, several reflections on different planes in the relation between two dynamic processes in a modernising society. On the one hand, we had occasion to observe newly forming political structures on different levels at a time of widespread politicising of society, from government administration, manifestations of representatives of corporative administration (churches), to party representations.
On the other hand, their approach to emigration in various forms of political exile or economic migration.
