Catamenial pneumotorax - case studies from our department in a ten-year period

Abstract

Catamenial pneumothorax is defined as spontaneous pneumotorax in women of reproductive age occuring in conjunction with the menstrual cycle. The authors present 4 cases of this condition treated in our department during the past ten years.

The causes leading to the development of this condition and optimal treatment procedures are also discussed.
