Abstract

The biblical text of the Song of Songs inspired interpretations of various authors, the Fathers of the Church as the second and 3 century (Roman Hippolytus, Origen), as well as a great personality next century (Gregory of Nyssa, Nile Ankyrský, Gregory the Great). Bernard of Clairvaux (1090-1153) created his Sermons on the Song of Songs in a time when the biblical text was truly one of the most popular themes for interpretation.
