Abstract

Jonathan Miles's book is based on in-depth research and demonstrates an extraordinary literary talent of the author. Miles decided to deal with the fate and life experience of Otto Katz, a spy for the Soviet espionage services born on Czech soil.

Katz, alias André Simone, was one of the defendants of the Slánský trial. During his life, he met many important and significant persons of the first half of the 20th century, he co-operated with American and European communists or fellow-travellers, and he undoubtedly believed in and served the stalinist type of communism and its needs.
