Abstract

Changes of demographic behavior affected all levels of the regional structures in the Czech Republic and Slovakia during the last twenty years, including the population of large cities. These changes are not so signed on the number of population, but especially at the change in the age structure of the population.

There is a process of demographic aging, which is and will be one of the main determinants of future development, not only demographic, but also social and economic.
