Recurrent parotitis is chronic bacterial infection of parotid gland characterized by sudden painful swelling of parotideomaseteric region and puss coming out from salivary duct. Aetiology is still not completely clear.
General symptoms are fever and malaise. Treatment is characterized by daily rinsing of parotid gland and antibiotic treatment in severe cases.
Immunomodulation is also possible. Complications are rare.
