Abstract

The author reviews an anthology Intermediální poetika příběhu (Intermedial Poetics of a Story) which is an output of a student conference Podoby a funkce příběhu - pokus o intermediální a interdisciplinární debatu (Shapes and Functions of a Story - Intermedial and Interdisciplinary Discussion Attempt). The author surveys conception of the whole project and raises a question whether such an attractive interdisciplinary methodology is really effective and fruitful.

He focuses mainly on works dealing with media studies. After introducing each paper and its theoretical background, the author concludes (not really surprisingly) that their benefit and fruitfulness varies, depending on each author.

In the end, he appeals to scholars and readers of such playful projects to ask themselves "laic questions", such as "What is it all actually good for?"
