Abstract
As a result of significant progress, the need for specialized care and depersonalization of medical care, the development and availability of information technology, higher education of patients the physician - patient relationship is altered from the traditional paternalistic relationship on a professional partnership. In the Czech Republic all the efforts to change the doctor - patient relationship to professional partnerships have been seen since the early nineties.
Rights of patients are initially promoted by the ethical codes, much later, at the level of legislation. Just the provision of health care, including the assumptions, conditions and consequences defined standards of medical law.
