Abstract
The aim of this study was to create valid Czech version of the most commonly used handedness questionnaire: the Edinburgh handedness inventory (EHI, Oldfield, 1971). The formulation of particular items were changed during the translation procedure (modified direct translation) in order to unify the interpretation of the items.
Structural equation modeling revealed a redundancy (writing), or insufficient accuracy (knife, broom, box opening) of some items in the EHI. Czech version of the EHI, containing 6 items was ceated by exclusion of these problematic items.
Results suggest that it is not necessary to weight particular items to calculate the laterality quotient (composite score). Reliability measured as the McDonald's omega for the unidimensional Czech version of the EHI was 0,95.
