The self-determination theory assumes that motivational processes can be conceptualized along a continuum, ranging from low (amotivation) to high (intrinsic motivation) levels of self-determination. The assumption is empirically manifested in values of correlation coefficients, which are expected to be higher between adjacent subconstructs (subscales) than those between more distant subconstructs.
This structure of correlations is known as a simple structure. The aim of the project is to test a simplex structure underlying The sport motivation scale in Czech Republic.
Using structural equation modeling we will compare the structure of the questionnaire in two groups differing in age (university students, high-school students). The results of this project will contribute to a validation procedure of The sport motivation scale in Czech environment and offer a useful diagnostic tool for assessing the motivation in context of sport.
