Sarcoidosis is a multisystem inflammatory disease of unknown etiology, connected with the formation of epitheloid granulomas in affected tissues. In 90% of patients the granulomas occurs in the lungs and hilar lymph nodes.
Renal impairment in sarcoidosis is rare and appears in the form of nephrolithiasis or nephrocalcinosis. Kidney failure in granulomatous nephritis (as in the case report) is very rare.
Initial treatment of the disease is corticosteroid monotherapy.
