How to mother mothers

Abstract

The article was written primarily for family therapists and summarizes preliminary results of the author's doctoral research. The results show that especially for less resilient primiparous parturients, support at childbirth provided by hospital staff determines the parental self-efficacy changes in the perinatal period.

These empirical findings are congruent with e.g. John Bowlby's opinion of importance of psychosocial well-being and security during childibrth for women with other than secure attachment.
