Large Scale Shell Model Study of Nuclear Spectroscopy in Nuclei Around Sn-132

Abstract

The properties of low-lying 2(+) states in chains of nuclei in the proximity of the magic number N=82 are investigated within a new shell model approach exploiting an iterative algorithm alternative to Lanczos. The calculation yields levels and transition strengths in overall good agreement with experiments.

The comparative analysis of the E2 and M1 transitions supports, in many cases, the scheme provided by the interacting boson model.
